Within the compact crossover class, the Toyota RAV4 is no doubt a deity. In fact, it's credited by many as one of the first of its kind, a true trendsetter among small SUVs.
Can the 2016 model continue to hold the throne in the face of ever-growing competition? Well, that's precisely the query MotorWeek set about addressing in their recent video review of the RAV4. See what they found in the clip below:
Indisputably one of its finest features, the RAV4's engine is altogether excellent. Coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission, this 2.5-liter four-cylinder is rated at a respectable 176 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, though the SUV can be had with an all-wheel system, if you so prefer.
And while it may not be quite as frugal as the new hybrid variant, the traditional RAV4 is still exquisitely economical, as front-drive models should achieve and outstanding 26 mpg combined (23 city/30 highway).
