Fall is apple season, and the Cincinnati area is home to some of Ohio's best orchards. Whether you want to pick your own or you'd rather swing by and load your cart with fresh-picked apples and homemade cider, you'll find just the place nearby. Check out these 12 apple orchards around Cincinnati and make plans to visit your favorites.

A&M Farm Orchard

Located about 45 miles northeast of downtown Cincinnati, A&M Farm Orchard is the place to get Honeycrisp, McIntosh, Jonathan, and Gala apples. You can purchase all varieties in the orchard's apple house and pick your own Jonathan apples or pumpkins. In the apple house, you'll also find fresh apple cider, apple butter, and a range of jams and jellies. During the fall season, the orchard is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Brumbaugh Fruit Farm

About 80 miles north of Cincinnati, Brumbaugh Fruit and Fun Farm is a great place to spend the day with the family. Here, you can shop for apples, enjoy baked goods, explore the hiking trails, or play on the kid-friendly attractions. During the fall season, the Fun Farm is open until 7 p.m. on weekends, and the market is open until at least 6 p.m. seven days a week. Most visitors have to pay a $10 admission fee to access all activities, while those younger than 3 or over 65 can visit for free.

Hidden Valley Orchards

Whether you want to shop at the market or enjoy seasonal events, Hidden Valley Orchards is your destination. Treat yourself to soft serve ice cream at The Coop, sip hard cider at The Crate Room, or pick up apple fritters and freshly picked apples at the market. In the fall, Hidden Valley Orchards is open until 9 p.m. from Thursday through Saturday and until 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Hollmeyer's Orchards

Nestled on the west side of Cincinnati, this family-owned orchard has been in business for over 100 years. Year-round, you can find peaches, pears, plums, and other seasonal produce here. In the fall, you'll find an array of Cortland, Gala, McIntosh, and Jonathan apples. If you time your visit right, you might also find caramel apples, pumpkins, and cider here. Hollmeyer's Orchards is open until 6 p.m. during the week, until 5 p.m. on Saturdays, and until 4 p.m. on Sundays.

Irons Fruit Farm

Conveniently located between Cincinnati and Dayton, Irons Fruit Farm has an impressive selection of produce in a casual country setting. In the fall, this fourth-generation farm offers apple cider, apple butter, and fresh apples. You'll also find local goodies like cinnamon-cider donuts and mini pies at the market. Irons Fruit Farm is open from mid-May through December. For the fall season, from August to October, it's open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. or 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. In November, the farm is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Karnes Orchard

Located about 73 miles east of Cincinnati, Karnes Orchard makes for a fun family-friendly day trip. When you visit, you can pick Jonathan, Gala, McIntosh, and Honeycrisp apples or visit the market for fresh cider. The market is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Labor Day through late fall.

McGlasson Farms

Perched on the shores of the Ohio River just over the Ohio-Kentucky border, McGlasson Farms is about 15 miles west of Cincinnati. This sixth-generation farm has a roadside market that's open daily, and in the fall, you'll find all of your favorite produce here. Stop by for Gala apples, apple cider, caramel apples, sunflowers, and much more. Bring the kids along and choose a pumpkin from the patch while you're here, too.

Monnin's Fruit Farm

Nestled just north of Dayton, Monnin's Fruit Farm is about 65 miles north of Cincinnati. It's well worth the trip since the market is stocked with seasonal fruits and vegetables year-round and is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can find strawberries, peaches, and apples when they're in season, and you can shop for Amish baked goods and jams throughout the year. The farm also has you-pick apples and pumpkins when the weather allows.

Peifer Orchards

Located just east of Dayton, Peifer Orchards is about 70 miles from Cincinnati. This friendly spot is open from June through December and has everything from peaches and apples to canned items and baked goods. You'll also find local honey and maple syrup at the orchard market and apple and pumpkin picking in September and October. The Farm Market is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check the orchard's social media pages for updates on you-pick hours and availability.

Pringles Orchard

Just 30 miles east of Cincinnati, Pringles Orchard is your destination for some of the best apples and cider in the metro area. The orchard often has Gala, Honeycrisp, and Ginger Gold apples, with varieties changing weekly. It's generally open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with shorter hours on Sundays. Tükens Orchard

About a 60-mile drive north of Cincinnati, Tükens Orchard has all your favorite fruits and vegetables as well as a range of activities for the family. Stop by to visit the animals at the Critter Corral, pick nearly a dozen types of pumpkins and gourds, and shop over 30 varieties of apples. You'll also find apple butter, apple pies, and apple cider slushies here. Check the orchard's social media pages for details about weekly you-pick apple events, which are typically held seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Wesler's Orchards

Located just over 70 miles north of Cincinnati, Wesler's Orchards boasts some of the area's best apples, cider, and other seasonal produce. You'll find Cortland, Gala, Honeycrisp, and McIntosh apples for sale as well as squash, fall vegetables, and apple pies. You can also pick Red and Golden Delicious apples from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday during the fall season.
